QEW-led Earthcare Coalition seeks your help

A message from the UNWG Circle on the UN Decade: Pamela Boyce Simms, Dick Hogan, Len Joy, Sheree Cammer, Beverly Ward, and QEW's Development Committee

The soil is the great connector of lives, the source and destination of all. It is the healer and restorer and resurrector, by which disease passes into health, age into youth, death into life. Without proper care for it we can have no community, because without proper care for it we can have no life. – Wendell Berry

Our goal is to create a beloved community and this will require a qualitative change in our souls as well as a quantitative change in our lives. – Martin Luther King Jr.

QEW's UN Working Group is leading an Earthcare Coalition of NGOs from the world-wide African diaspora, to inform the UN High Level Political Forum about food sovereignty, land retention, and access to water. The Earthcare Coalition will conduct an HLPF “side event” in July - a meeting of NGOs for strategic action, to be broadcast on UN TV. The Coalition will also coordinate aligned events in the African diaspora throughout the year.

Many of our Coalition partners are already engaged in action. They include Black urban and rural farmers, agro-ecology activists, defenders of small landholders and water rights in many parts of the world. Our network will develop plans to support people of African descent in the US and elsewhere who have been disfranchised, displaced and denied access to water; support in regional & international alternatives to energy- & chemical-intensive monoculture and corporate “agribiz” land grabs.
