Welcome to the QEW Green Pages

Many of us are living and working on different portions of Earthcare. Our stories and articles can inspire others into living a more sustainable lifestyle. In this section we are developing greening resources to assist Meetings, their Members and Attenders, and others that are lead to these pages. This involves creating a caring attitude toward living arrangements, choices about food, clothing and transportation, and how to use green building techniques. A large part of the energy and materials that we use are in the construction and use of the buildings in which we live, work and worship. We are interested in helping in both renovation and new construction of Meeting Houses as well as private residences and places of business that our readers find themselves involved. Sustainable living is a broad and inclusive topic that mostly involves a state of mind that has been shifted from the “way it’s always been done” to one of a different consciousness.

The QEW Green Pages are divided into three parts.

I. Green Lifestyles and Living Arrangements includes stories and articles on living arrangements. Different forms of intentional community are being tried. Communal land ownership, co-housing arrangements, multi-income communities are just a few. This also includes green lifestyles--How to eat locally, growing your own food, decisions about what to drive and what fuels to use in what you drive. Also, discussions about living on and off the electrical grid.

II. Green Buildings & Churcheswill be articles about building and renovation that are primers to the nature of green building and renovation. This will include a set of articles on specific portions of the green building process that will come up during the design and construction process. This is more of a ‘how to’ section where you can find out enough information to make informed decisions for your specific project.

III. Green Business Directory and other Green Resourceswill give you a list of contacts that are available for additional information. These are organizations, businesses and individuals that have made their mission to work in one or more areas within green building and green business and expressed an interest in being included in our pages. This section will include a list of web related resources where additional research can be continued as you work out the specifics of your particular project.

These QEW Green Pages are being constructed by both advocates and seekers. If you are an advocate and would like to contribute a story or an article in general or on your particular area of expertise please sent it to QEW office.
