II. Green Buildings & Churches
Over the years our BeFriending Creation newsletter has featured a number of Friends Meeting Houses that have been either recently built, remodeled, or rehabilitated with minimizing their ecological footprints as a major objective.
These have included: Heartland Meeting in Wichita, Kansas; Camden Meeting in Camden, Delaware; Live Oak Meeting in Houston, Texas; Burlington Meeting in Burlington, Vermont. We are in the process of compiling references to those articles in the newsletter archives. Please check back later.
In 2008, then Steering Committee Clerk Barbara Williams wrote a series of articles for BeFriending Creation about reducing ecological footprints of Friends' homes and Meeting Houses.
In addition, BeFriending Creation has featured projects of Friends General Conference and of a number of Yearly Meetings that were aimed at reducing the ecological footprints of their annual gatherings.
Major green-building projects have been undertaken recently by Friends Center in Philadelphia and the headquarters of Friends Committee on National Legislation in Washington, D.C.
QEW also has assisted a number of Friends Meetings in greening their facilities, programs, and activities through the QEW Mini-Grant Project.
These Green Pages are being constructed by both advocates and seekers. If you are an advocate and would like to contribute a story or an article in general or on your particular area of expertise please sent it to the QEW office. Let us know if you would like to be included in our advocates directory.
Have a question? Ask an expert. Let us find a solution for your particular topic or specific issue. Our Green Advocates collectively have decades of experience in the field and either already know the answer to your question or know where to get you an answer. Send an email to the QEW office and let us get started for you.
